FUZZ HEAVEN.

In my mind, there are officially 4 songs in the running for the greatest iconic fuzz guitar ever recorded. My Bloody Valentine’s “Only Shallow”, Blur’s “Song 2”, of course Radiohead’s “Creep”, but I feel someone has to say it… None of those HOLD A CANDLE to Starflyer 59’s “A House Wife Love Song”. Not even close.

I remember the first time I heard it, I lost my teenage mind. I instantly slung my guitar 6 inches lower and tried out every fuzz pedal I could possibly find…to absolutely no avail. It took me years to realize the magic wasn’t only in Jason Martin’s fingers; it’s the fact that everything else in the mix is so ridiculously small…the whispered vocals, the tippy tappy drums, there’s so. much. sonic. SPACE for absolutely glorious, terrorizing chainsaw fuzz guitar mayhem.

Have a listen and let me know your top 4…
